Welcome to the Gwent Sword Club Web Site

Gwent Sword Club currently operates at two venues in South-East Wales, with our fully trained coaches providing training to both experienced fencers and beginners through our programme of beginner courses.

Our Newport division has now transferred Caerleon on Monday nights (see below)

Our Caerleon division runs on Monday nights at the University Sports Centre gym, Lodge Road, Caerleon, NP18 3QT 19:00 till 21:00.  (link to map)

Our Chepstow division runs on Friday nights from 18:30 till 20:30 at Chepstow Leisure Centre, Welsh Street, Chepstow, NP16 5LX. (link to map)

ALL members are encouraged to take part in this year's club foil competition, which will be on Sunday, July 14 (PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DATE) in the arts hall at Chepstow Comprehensive School - use the leisure centre entrance and ask for directions. There will also be a junior competition (open to under-16s who have not previously competed in an adult competition). Provisional check-in closing time is 12.30pm, with the competition ending between 5pm and 6pm. Cost £5 (£4 for the junior competition). Entry forms are now available from Catherine or Carl. Our AGM will follow immediately after the competition at a venue to be confirmed (please take this as official notification of the AGM - contact Carl if you want more details or would like to propose a motion). After the AGM, we will probably arrange an evening meal. Further details will follow later.

All club membership is due for renewal from January 1. From April, part-year membership is available at the rate of 10% of the annual cost per month (or part-month). The costs are listed below - see Carl or Catherine for more details. Without club membership, the 'associate member' rate is payable at club sessions. Please note that all fencers should, in addition, be members of British Fencing and are responsible for ensuring their BF membership is renewed on time.

Congratulations to all those who fenced in the Welsh team foil championships: men's teams 2nd and 5th; women's teams 1st, 2nd and 4th.
