Welcome to the Gwent Sword Club Web Site

Gwent Sword Club currently operates at two venues in South-East Wales, with our fully trained coaches providing training to both experienced fencers and beginners through our programme of beginner courses.

Our Newport division runs on Monday nights at Rougemont School, Malpas Road, Newport NP20 6QB 19:00 till 21:00.

Our Chepstow division runs on Friday nights from 18:30 till 20:30 at Chepstow Leisure Centre, Welsh Street, Chepstow, NP16 5LX. (link to map)

Please note the South Wales Argus is planning to run a feature on the club and will be at Rougemont on Monday, October 10. The club has an "assumed consent" policy to publicity but if any parent does not want their child included in any photographs, please make that clear at the start of the club session on Monday.

Club membership (£25) is due for renewal in January. Without club membership, the 'associate member' rate is payable at club sessions and you have no voting rights at the AGM. Please note that it is a requirement of Welsh Fencing that to be fully insured all club members should, in addition, be members of British Fencing - see www.britishfencing.com . Individual members are responsible for ensuring their BF membership is renewed on time.

Well done everyone at the Welsh Team Foil Championships: women 1st (for an 8th consecutive year); men 2nd & 3rd. Full results at www.welshfencing.org pictures at https://www.facebook.com/groups/424789240945833/

There will be a "half term" break in our current beginners' course at Rougemont. There will be no full course sessions on October 24 or 31 but there are deals available for course members who want to fence on those dates - vouchers for those who missed the first week and discounts for those who want extra sessions - see Carl for details. Beginners are still welcome at Chepstow. Please e-mail Carl Difford on diffordsatvirginmedia [dot] com for details. We welcome visiting fencers of all abilities (see visitor rates below). We are planning the next beginners' course at Rougemont School in January - get your name down early to ensure your place.

2015/2016 club fees:
Visitors and associate members: £6 per session  / £5 for under-18s, over-65s and full-time students.
Members: £5 / £4 (club membership available - £25 per year).
Beginners' courses (see link above): £45 /£35 for eight-week course, including club membership, but not British Fencing membership (insurance).
